How to Stay Focus on Work and Avoid Social Media Distractions

Social Media is fun and nobody wants to say no to the fun. It is like magic, with a simple click you went viral. A door to entertainment is one click away. When you start scrolling and watching videos on different social media platforms, you will never be able to focus on work. Social media is the biggest distraction in your work time. It badly affects your work productivity, spoils your mind in office, you are not even able to spend time with family. Manage time between social media and work life. There are many possible ways to avoid distractions while working.
Make your Goal of the Day
Before starting your work in the morning, make an action plan for working. When you do an effort to make a plan you will become a little motivated and start proceeding according to the plan. Write it on a sticky note and paste it in front of you. When you see it after every few minutes you speed up your work and even if you try to use different social media apps, you will quit it. You might be lazy during the day because last night you spent a lot of time in net surfing but your goal of the day keeps you motivated during the day.
Switch to New Notification Settings
There is a trigger for every action. The trigger for using social media applications is notifications. It might happen when you are working in the office with a focused mind. Suddenly, the notification for your favorite video pops up on the screen. Once you pick up the phone there is no turning back. You start watching your favorite show one after the other. To avoid such distraction, change the settings for your social media applications during the work time. Mute all the notifications coming on to your screen.
Avoid Using Phone after Waking Up
It is a morning ritual for few people to use the phone after opening eyes in the morning. In this way, they will lose a lot of time that can be used productively. They did not find time for exercise and get late for the office. They are lazy in the office too and could not focus on work too. Restrict yourself from using the phone in the morning. Wake up from bed and exercise for a few minutes, take a bath, and get ready. Check only the most important notifications for example reminders for Doctor appointments.
Set Up App Usage Limit
There is a feature on your phone that tells you about app usage daily or weekly. You can easily monitor app usage. Set a benchmark for the usage of the app on your phone. Force yourself for not using the phone. Don’t let your distractions come in the way of your work. If still you fail to solve the issue. Delete the application permanently from you. In starting you will miss the fun but with the time you will become habitual.
Try a Replacement Hobby
It is a good idea to try a healthy routine and a good hobby against your bad habits. Every addiction has a replacement. If you wish to quit bad habits, then you can quit them at any cost. Start working on yourself and improve yourself. It is not suggested to ban social media from your life. It is a good source of information and knowledge and you can quickly reach everything. Add a good hobby in your life and when you start the training of your mind, you are done with the half of the battle. A hobby is your own choice, the thing you are good at and enjoy a lot. It may a habit of reading a book or a complex hard exercise. Whatever it takes, try to get rid of your bad habits and don’t make yourself useless by using the phone all the time.
